I've been questioning whether we can trust dog food manufacturers or the FDA. I believed the story behind Blue Buffalo, where a dog owner developed the healthiest food for his dog named Blue, who developed cancer, leading to the creation of the Blue Buffalo and Blue Wilderness brands.
However, I recently learned that General Mills owns the Blue Buffalo/Blue Wilderness brand. This was disappointing because I thought it was still a small "Mom & Pop" company with more control over the ingredients in their food. Now that I know that it's owned by a big company, I don't rely on the label as much as I used to. I've realized that the ingredients don't necessarily indicate quality, the FDA allows many questionable, unsafe ingredients and these ingredients might be outsourced, which can lead to recalls.

The FDA allows unsatisfactory ingredients in the foods we eat. Just take a look at us. Overweight, diabetes, cancers, organ failure, Why trust that dog food is going to be any better? I feel responsible for ensuring my pups have good, healthy nutrition that won't make them sick, so I've decided to educate myself on preparing fresh, healthy food for them. They rely on me to provide their meals. I have to do better, knowing that food can be the single most important thing that affects their health.
